This hands-on workshop focuses on precision techniques for creating compelling still life and motion imagery using controlled tabletop setups. Participants will explore high-speed photography methods to capture the dynamics of underwater splash effects, as well as controlled lighting strategies for photographing submerged subjects such as flowers. Instruction will include techniques for managing reflections and refractions through glass, using continuous and strobe lighting, and creating atmospheric effects with backdrops and additives like milk or dye in water. We’ll also cover camera settings for freezing motion, minimizing distortion, and maximizing depth of field in close-range compositions. By the end of the session, attendees will have a working knowledge of how to set up and light small-scale conceptual scenes using accessible tools and materials, with emphasis on repeatable results for portfolio development or competition entries.
