Stop Adulting & Start Playing!!
I didn’t do anything fun this year because of Covid....I only submit client work and since I didn’t have many clients...I couldn’t think of anything I wanted to do or liked....I got lazy and couldn’t get out of my own way this year...BULL POOP!
Covid has filled us with all sorts of dread about our future as photographers, especially portrait artists. But, what actually kept you from achieving your goals this year was a lack of motivation.... you were so busy being a scared adult you forgot how to just play.
I’m here to help get you over that hump by learning how to open up those crayon boxes, dusting off those play mats and remember what it’s like to color outside the lines. By allowing yourself to create and play by feeding your creative soul, you can create new ways to feed your piggybank!
Growing up on a small farm in East Tennessee, Gena longed to see the world and experience things entirely different from her home. She joined USAF and received not only a job classification in Immunology but also Combat Camera which came in handy while photographing High School Seniors and Underclass for Prestige/Lifetouch from 2002-2013. With those skills and a background in Interior Design and a passion for upcycling, Gena was able to open her first brick and mortar studio in December of 2013 and ultimately bought and built the permanent Gena Tussey Station House Photography Studio location in Maryville TN during the Covid 19 pandemic... no excuses there.
Gena joined the PPA in 2008 and received her CPP in 2012, her Masters of Photography in 2016 and Craftsman in 2018. She also received her first GIA finalist for 2 images in the Creative Open category in 2019 and received her first GIA in January of 2020.
Anyway... Gena is an animal lover, and believer in helping out human causes like the Smile Network and Veterans Diversity Programs, building my own sets and props and creating quirky, off beat designs for her clients... oh yeah, she's been married for over 32 years... to the same guy... believe it or not! And yes... she does have pet geese that visited at the studio several times a week, until she took over babysitting two new babies... ask her about the bank president and the egg incident!
